Boiler Technician
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Boiler Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining residential boiler systems. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting abilities, experience with hydronic and steam heating systems, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and customer service.
As a Boiler Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring home heating systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential boiler systems (hot water and steam)
- Service burners, gas fuel systems, circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks, and heating controls
- Perform combustion analysis and adjust systems for optimal efficiency
- Conduct routine maintenance including cleaning heat exchangers, inspecting venting, and testing safety controls
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical boiler components (aquastats, pressure controls, low-water cutoffs, relays, thermostats, etc.)
- Perform system start-ups, shutdowns, and seasonal tune-ups
- Read and interpret piping diagrams, wiring schematics, and manufacturer specifications
- Identify needed repairs and clearly explain recommendations to homeowners
- Complete accurate service documentation and maintain detailed service records
- Ensure all work complies with Massachusetts plumbing and mechanical codes, safety standards, and company policies
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience servicing and repairing residential boiler systems
- Strong understanding of hydronic heating and steam systems
- Experience working with gas-fired heating equipment
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in mechanical spaces
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- MA Journeyman Plumbing License preferred but not required
